Items that grant recipients may purchase through the STEP grant program include prescribed fire supplies, personal protective equipment, radios, tools, repair parts, weather data devices, pumps, signage/education materials, etc.

OSMRE manages the AMLER program, which provides grants to the six states and three Tribes with the greatest amount of unfunded abandoned mine land problems for projects that leverage mine land reclamation with local economic development.

Near-term commercialization advancement, demonstration or application of existing technologies that enables the conversion or use of Ohio coal as a fuel or chemical feedstock in an environmentally acceptable manner.

Provides grants to research institutions studying mechanisms critical to emissions formation and methods of control, or for uses of coal as a feedstock for other processes.

Provide training, technical assistance and business loans to low- and moderate-income Ohioans interested in establishing or expanding Microenterprise businesses.

Creates and retains permanent, private-sector jobs, principally for low- and moderate-income persons, through the expansion and retention of business and industry in Ohio communities.
