Breanna Oswald
Breanna Oswald is a long-time resident of Athens County, Ohio. She is a current MPH student with Ohio University, on track to graduate December 2023. Upon receiving her B.A. in Child and Family Studies from Ohio University, Breanna gained community experience in Cleveland Ohio as a student intern with Mom's First helping support the African American population and the fight against infant mortality.
After consideration, Breanna decided to move back to her hometown in Southeastern Ohio and gain professional experience serving Appalachia. In Hocking and Athens Counties, she worked as a home visitor for Early Head Start with Hocking Athens Perry Community Action for 3 1/2 years. Her work with prenatal mothers, children 0-3, and their families involved helping support positive physical and mental health outcomes, child development, parents as teachers, and the various needs of those she served.
Working with families from diverse backgrounds in the community was gratifying and inspired her to continue her education in the public health field. She is excited to connect her experiences and educational journey with Sunday Creek Horizons and gain insightful ways to uplift the Appalachian community.
